We will determine a
current cash value and payment for your royalties after reviewing your
royalty payment history, operator, equipment manufacturer and power
buyer.
Will
taking a lump-sum payment increase my taxes?
The tax you currently pay for your royalty payments is based on
your tax rate. Converting all or some of your royalty payments into a
lump-sum payment may qualify for a Capital Gains tax rate, which is lower
than ordinary income tax.
Do I still own the land after selling the
royalty rights?
Yes,
the landowner only transfers the royalty payment and related easement
rights; the landowner retains ownership of the land.
Can I sell my property after converting my royalty stream?
Yes, your property may be sold independently of the disposition of its wind royalties.
What happens if the operator damages my property after converting my royalty stream?
Existing protective covenants for damages would typically not be affected by a royalty sale.
Do I have to convert my entire royalty stream, or can I convert a portion of it?
It is your decision to convert all or part of the royalty stream according to your needs.
